Mark A. Mahan, MD
Mark A. Mahan, MD, is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in both endoscopic spine surgery and peripheral nerve surgery. He routinely teaches throughout the globe, including instruction on techniques as well as clinical and laboratory science. Dr. Mahan also runs several clinical trials, including trials funded by the US Department of Defense and industry-funded research. He serves as an editor for the top neurosurgical journals, Neurosurgery and Journal of Neurosurgery, and as a reviewer for several other journals.
Dr. Mahan performs the complete range of spinal surgery, including oncologic, minimally invasive and endoscopic, and spinal trauma. He is a founding member of the Endoscopic Spine Research Group and has received several awards for his teaching. Whenever feasible, Dr. Mahan uses endoscopic techniques to address spinal problems because of the lower risks, minimal tissue injury, and rapid recovery associated with endoscopic surgery.
